Half term camps are always a lot of fun for our staff, it gives them an opportunity to have fun doing all sorts of different activities! This half term has been especially fun, as we’ve been able to incorporate Halloween activities into our itinerary too.
The weather has, at times, been a difficult thing to contend with. But our staff have remained cool, calm, collected and flexible in their delivery and approach to activities, as they always do.
While the Football Camp focused on drills, goalkeeping clinics, understanding of rules, techniques and matches, our Kids+ Camp offered more variety- there was in the second week of camps, a greater focus on the Halloween Arts and Crafts! Our Playworkers and Sports Coaches really enjoyed the opportunity to get messy and creative with activities such as potion making (and yes, glitter got absolutely EVERYWHERE!), baking spooky rice crispy monsters, and much more!
Part of what helps the children to have a great time at our camps is that the adults get stuck in too. The Playworkers and Sports Coaches not only lead each session, and are prepared ahead of the sessions, but they also join in. The group leaders gently encourage and nurture the children, and demonstrate technique in a hands on way. Staff were also eager to get stuck in during sporting activities…however, this did lead to them becoming targets during the odd game of dodgeball!
We’re not afraid to make a mess during our activities, but we always make sure to tidy up! At the end of each day our best helper, our most polite child, or most enthusiastic won a medal! We’re always pleased to recognise and acknowledge when children have had good days.
Really, with this blog post we’re reflecting on how brilliant the October Half Term camps were at Rothwell and Polebrook were. Fiesta hopes that children enjoyed the camps, we worked hard to make them as fun and enriching as possible. We want to thank children for being so excited and following the rules, we want to thank parents/adults for maintaining clear communication with our staff each day and for giving us feedback*, and we’d like to say thank you to our staff too for going above and beyond, as they always do.
We can’t wait for the next holiday camps! (Watch this space for more information!)
